And you might be wondering, why I am telling everyone about my 'shameful' malady. Can't you suffer in silence?
It is precisely for this reason that I am blogging about this. I want all you men (ok... ladies if you care about your partners, you too) that there is nothing shameful about this. Sh*t happens but how you deal with it is what defines you. If others cannot live with this, all props to them. Just don't see me crying with them when they get hit by his ... just kidding.
Prevention is better than cure. And it all starts with a knowing more about what you are facing.
After battling manfully for long periods where I struggled with the infection, I finally surrendered and admitted that I am now suffering from a malady normally associated with women.
But as I researched more into the problem, I realized that the question "can man get yeast infection?" is no longer as ridiculous as it used to be. While it is not common, it is also not rare to find yeast infection in man anymore and there are numerous cases of it happening.
Yes! Penile yeast infection, although hugely embarrasing, is just one manifestation of this troubling problem.
How did I know that I was suffering from penile yeast infection? Well, the first symptom to show was a reddish coloration that appeared like a rash on the head of the penis. Boy, was it itchy. The more I scratched, the worse it became.
On other occasions, it was like what the women suffer when they have vaginal yeast infection. Foul smelling white discharge.
Well, the first symptom happened more often, and the second symptom was not so common. But sometimes both happened at the same time and this was hell and smell!
Later on after visits to the doctor, I was told that it was good that I went to the doctors early. There are many men who suffered from it but refused to seek treatment for their yeast infection in man symptoms because of the mildness of the attacks. They dismiss it as the result of an overactive sex life (or the lack of it) and do nothing about it.
But this complacency can lead to drastic problems down the road because if you treat this infection earlier, less complications are likely to happen.
What I also learned was that we can suffer from penile yeast infection without even realizing it because the symptoms just do not appear at all in the beginning. Recurring yeast infection is not something that they worry about because they do not experience any of the discomfort or reddish hue on penis and white discharges. But when the infection hits fully, the severity of it is so bad that there is little one can do then.
Whew! At least I discovered it in the early stages and am now actively seeking to take care of it.
So is there anything man can do to prevent ourselves from being yeast infected? Since sometimes symptoms are not so apparent.
There is not simple answer to this except:
YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF IT!Understand that yeast infection is no longer a problem of the women only. Men do get it. So learn more about the infection - the causes, the symptoms and cures. One if the things I am doing now, and with success, is to go about it the organic and natural way. I hate the idea of popping pills and washing my privates with medication.
